Join us for the 27th annual Bern’s Winefest at the Art Brunch at Haven. This year’s food and wine event includes a seated four-course brunch prepared by Executive Chef, Chad Johnson and his team of culinary experts, and features Código 1530 Tequila and Perrier-Jouët Champagne

In partnership with local art gallery, CASS Contemporary, Bern’s Family Restaurant Group has commissioned artwork by Drew Merritt to be unveiled during the festivities. Drew is based out of Los Angeles and is known for using a vivid palate that evokes broad spectrums of emotions ranging from pleasure to isolation.  After the unveiling, join us for brunch paired with selections from our sponsors at Pernod Ricard and Perrier Jouët. The toasting is sure to be indulgent!

Last year’s festival artwork was created by Fintan Magee, and resides in our new corporate office building on South Howard Avenue.  Additionally, our Bern’s Winefest art collection consists of pieces by artists; Tristan Eaton, Dalek, FAITH XLVII, PichiAvo,  Joram Roukes and Paola Delfin – all of which can be enjoyed at our three local South Tampa sister properties.

*Please note that due to the format of this event; allergies and dietary substitutions cannot be accommodated. Menu items are subject to availability and may change without notice.

All guests must be 21+ and tickets are non-transferrable.

The Laxer Family Foundation is a charitable foundation that provides the opportunity to raise money through events that foster a more inclusive and cooperative youth culture while cultivating the advancement of the next generation of culinary leaders through scholarships. Since 1997, Bern’s Winefest has been the main fundraising event for the Bern Laxer Memorial Scholarship. Through the James Beard Foundation selection process, funds are awarded to individuals from the state of Florida in one of three disciplines: Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or Viticulture. A portion of the proceeds raised through this event will go  directly to the Bern Laxer Memorial Scholarship Fund. DREW MERRITT

Born on the outskirts of Clovis, New Mexico, Drew Merritt grew up working on a farm, which is also the starting point of his career as an artist. Drew often plays with the idea of contrast and conflict by placing classical subjects in contemporary settings. His vivid palette evokes a broad spectrum of emotions ranging from pleasure to isolation.

Merritt aspires to guide his audience through a world of emotions by evoking empathy. His works' themes convey a clear visual biography: audiences are able to imagine the

stories behind them, and therefore can come to comprehend the way they are created.

Growing up surrounded by graffiti-covered cargo trains, this budding artist was inspired to pursue an underground career.

Now based in Los Angeles, he found himself in a hybrid position between rural and urban cultures. While it can be said that conventional graffiti culture is clandestine by nature, Merritt's artworks, however, are characterized by their hope and determination. This mesmerizing juxtaposition yields a tangible visual tension.
